FINALLY!!!! Rapunzel got finished just in time for Otakon. Hannah and I dressed as pretty princesses and flounced around Otakon Saturday afternoon. She was a beautiful Aurora and I got to be Rapunzel!
Here's me and my Pascal Being BFFs
I was really proud of this costume, everything was made from scratch, self patterned, and I even made my own piping so it matched the reference art. The panel in the skirt is not movie accurate, but I like the colors and the texture better than the movie art, so there....
The wig is not nearly as long as it should be, but I really, really, really wanted to wear this costume and with all the commissions I've been working on lately, I didn't have time to put together an accurate wig.
The whole costume cost about $80-$100 in materials (I already had some of the material and paint and things) and I spent almost 30 hours putting together the bodice, the lining, the skirt, the custom stencil for the skirt, and the underskirt.
I also made an identical costume. I think I'll put boning in the seams of the other bodice and do the piping along the top of the bodice the same way I did it along the bottom of the bodice in the first one. I'll also cut about an inch off the sides of the front panels so that there is a space between the lacing and put a panel under the front of the bodice so everything matches. This costume is by no means perfect, but I am VERY happy with how it turned out

P.S. If anyone is interested in commissioning a Rapunzel costume from me, would love to make another one this one was so much fun to work on!
